Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012 part 1

อย่างแรกเลยผมไม่รู้ว่ามันจะมีกี่พาร์ทน่ะครับ แต่จะพยายามให้มันครอบคลุมเนื้อหาละกัน

Install Servers

สิ่งแรกที่ดีของ Windows Server 2012 คือมันไม่มี 32-Bit ลืมไปได้เลยว่าจะต้องมานั่งเลือกว่า x86 หรือ x64 ดี และ Windows Server 2012 มาพร้อมกับ 4 edition

• Windows Server 2012 Datacenter เหมือนกับสร้างมาเพื่อ Powerfull Server สำหรับองค์กรที่งานส่วนใหญ่อยู่ใน Virtualized Environment เพราะ Datacenter edition ไม่มีลิมิตในการทำ Virtualization
• Windows Server 2012 Standard มี Feature ทุกอย่างที่มีใน Windows Server 2012 แต่ต่างจาก Datacenter ตรงที่ว่าทำ Virtualized ได้แค่ 2 Environment
• Windows Server 2012 Essentials สำหรับองค์กรที่มีผู้ใช้งานไม่เกิน 25 คน Server จะตัด Feature ของ Server Core, Hyper-V และ Active Directory Federation Service 
• Windows Server 2012 Foundation สำหรับองค์กรขนาดเล็กที่มีผู้ใช้งานไม่เกิน 15 คน ที่ต้องการ Server ทำงานง่ายๆ เช่น File and Print Service role

ในการลงแบบ Clean Install มันก็เหมือนกับ Windows Server ทั่วๆไป สิ่งที่แตกต่างสำหรับ  Windows Server 2012 ใน Editiion ของ Datacenter และ Standard คือสามารถลงแบบ Server Core ได้ (Command line) แต่ยังไงก็ตาม เราสามารถจะสลับไปมาระหว่าง GUI version และ Server Core ภายหลังได้ ส่วน Essentials กับ Foundation ลงได้แต่แบบ GUI (ผมอ่าน กุ๊ย)

ข้อดีของ Server Core 
     1. Reduce Management เพราะว่ามันจำกัดโปรแกรมที่จะลง
     2. Minimal Maintenance เหตุผมเดียวกับข้างบน
     3. Smaller Footprint เพียงแค่พื้นที่ 1GB สำหรับติดตั้ง และอีก 2GB สำหรับทำงาน เท่านั้นที่ต้องการ
     4. Tighter Security เนื่องจากมีโปรแกรมที่ติดตั้งจำกัด เลยมีความเสี่ยงที่จะถูก Hack ต่ำมาก

จาก GUI Installation ต้องการจะเปลี่ยนไปเป็น Server Core ให้
     1. Remove role 2 ตัว คือ Server Graphical Shell และ Graphical Management Tools and Infrastructure  ตามรูปข้างล่างนี้ โดยการเลือก Manage --> Remove Roles and Features ในหน้าต่าง Server Manager

     

     

     2. ใช้ PowerShell ในการ Remove Role ทั้ง 2 ตัว

     

     คำสั่งคือ Remove-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Shell,Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra โดยแบ่งเป็นสองส่วนได้แก่  

1. Remove-WindowsFeature คือ cmdlets (อ่านว่า command lets) ในการถอนการติดตั้ง Windows Feature
2. คือในส่วนของ Role, Server-Gui-Shell คือ Server Graphical Shell Role และ Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra คือ Graphical Management Tools and Infrastructure Role

ในส่วนของการ Upgrade จาก Windows Server 2008 editions ต่างๆ

Current System  --------------------------------> to Windows Server 2012 Edition

Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 Web Server ----> Standard

Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 Standard -------> Standard, Datacenter

Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 Enterprise ------> Datacenter

Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 Datacenter -----> Datacenter

ไม่สามารถ Upgrade จาก 32-Bit ไปสู่ 64-Bit

ไม่สามารถ Upgrade จาก ภาษาหนึ่งไปอีกภาษาหนึ่งได้ เช่น U.S. English language ไปเป็น French language

อย่างที่ Microsoft แนะนำ  ก่อนที่จะ Upgrade Server ควรจะทำ Full-Backup

Migrating roles

คือการจัดการโอนถ่ายข้อมูลจาก Server ใดๆมายัง Pure Windows Server 2012 ซึ่งมันจะช่วยทำให้ข้อจำกัดทางด้านการ Upgrade หมดไป แต่มันต้องใช้ Resource มากกว่าการ Upgrade คือต้องมี Server อย่างน้อย 2 ตัว คุณสามารถโอนถ่ายข้อมูลภายใต้เงื่อนไขด้านล่าง

• โอนถ่ายระหว่าง Versions คือสามารถ Migrate Data จาก Windows Server 2003 SP2 ไปยัง Windows Server 2012 และรวมถึงจาก Windows Server 2012 ไปยัง Server ตัวอื่น
• โอนถ่ายระหว่าง Platforms คือสามารถ Migrate Data จาก x86 หรือ x64 ไปยัง Windows Server 2012
• โอนถ่ายระหว่าง Edition คือสามารถ Migrate Data จาก Edition หนึ่งไปยัง Editioin หนึ่งได้
• โอนถ่ายระหว่าง Physical and Visual Instances คือสามารถ Migrate Data จาก Visual Server ไปยัง Physical Server หรือจาก Physical Server ไปยัง Visual Server
• โอนถ่ายระหว่าง Installation Options คือสามารถ Migrate Data จาก Server Core ไปยัง GUI หรือกลับกัน
